Maritime Cultural and Popular Music Center

The spanish architecture firm MADE IN wins the Maritime Cultural and Popular Music Center internacional competition, situated in the taiwanese city of Kaohsiung.

The spanish firm MADE IN was proclamated last Tuesday, 18 of January, winner of the internacional architecture competition Maritime Cultural and Popular Music Center  wich will be due to construction in the next few years in the taiwanese city of Kaohsiung. The project turns out to be one the most important, developed by an spanish team in the internacional sphere, with a surface of  100.000 square meters and a budget of 100 million of euros. It contains two auditoriums, one exterior wich will acomódate 12,000 people and an interior one with 3.500 seats. Also in addition a marine museum, a music museum, a 24/7 open market and finally 8 smaller auditoriums of polivalent use. This creates an heterogenic proposal where different buildings and public spaces articulates the bay area of the Love River, integrating the essential aspects of taiwanese culture.

From the first moment the project caught the attention of the jury that selected it, althow with certain doubts since it appears, it was “too risky”. Finally, the quantity and quality of the work preseted and the solutions that where proposed not only refered to programme but for the urbanistic integration, made it posible to win the first prize. In the near future the Maritime Cultural and Popular Music Center of Kaohsiung will be builted in 3 ore 4 years, and will held the spanish signature.

MADE IN team has been created by Manuel Alvarez Monteserin and Beatriz Pachón expessly for this competition with the collaboration of the architects, Javier Simó, Andrés Infantes, Lain Satrustegui, Antonio Alejandro and the experience of the firm Corona and P.Amaral Architects, authors of the Terminal of the Airport Nort of Tenerife, also the support of the Studio Leon 11 with bases in Madrid. Alter been selected in the first phase of the competition, MADE IN associated with HOY Architects, a Taiwanese firm and various well known internacional consultants such as ARUP (instalations), BOMA (structures) and XU Acoustics (acustics) between others.
